#5 Craig’s story is extremely inspiring because of the amount of determination just one kid had. After loads of hard work he made a tremendous difference in the world and look where he is now. So many things could have leaded him to give up, if his teacher didn’t let him read the article in class for example. After all, only eleven kids raised their hand when he asked who of his classmates would like to help him make a difference. It proves that if you’re passionate enough about something, anything is possible.

#4 My best leadership experience would have to be last Friday, We Day. It was my first we day, my first time at the ACC and my first trip to Toronto with the school. Having the opportunity to come on the trip was tremendous to begin with. Being able to see ordinary kids standing on the same stage as widely known celebrities, both working towards the very same goal was remarkable. Even though there was no ‘leading’ asked of us that day, tweeting, facebooking and picture-taking was our way of letting Free the Children know that we were soaking in everything they were telling us. They filled our heads with many ideas that I can’t wait to bring back to IDCI.

#3 A leader is someone who likes to be in control of a situation. Someone who enjoys helping people in need and doesn’t expect things in return. This is a person who goes out of their way to make someone else’s life a little easier. A person who can take charge and get things done efficiently. Someone who is inclusive to every one willing to help. Someone who is not afraid to ask for help or ask for the things they need to get stuff done. Also someone with confidence. All these traits contribute to being a leader because you can’t follow someone who themself doesn’t believe they can complete what was started. A wise old teacher who likes cardigans and Birkenstocks once said, “You should never start something you don’t intend on finishing.” After reconsideration I realized you asked who not what... but I worked too hard on that first bit not to post it. Melissa Webb is who comes to mind when I think of a leader. Not only was she IDCI’s prime minister and a leader around the school, but also outside of school and on the ice. Missy was one of the creators of a day called Wacky Wednesday, the first Wednesday of every month we would all dress in the most ridiculous attire and wear it on the ice. This was a creative way to get us to look forward to coming to skating. Even though she has moved away now, the tradition lives on. If she isn’t the definition of a leader I don’t know what is.

#2 I don't understand...

#1 In grade 11 leadership this semester I plan to mostly help out with things like planning dances, assemblies, and fun festive activities within the school. Also I hope to gain a new outlook on the way the school works by getting a behind the scenes look at how things are planned in prepared. Furthermore I would like to learn about new ways to help not only in this community but overseas as well by doing things like raising money or gathering supplies to help those who need it most.
